CariSTEM is a platform for persons and organizations interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) within the Caribbean. We aim to provide relevant articles and other resources to aid the development of the STEM areas in the Caribbean.
Target Audience

Secondary school
students interested in what’s happening in the Caribbean and the wider world in STEM, and how the mathematics and science they’re learning plays out in the “real world.”

University students
interested in developments within the Caribbean in their fields of study, seeking topics for projects and research, and exploring ideas on possible career directions.

Caribbean STEM Hero of the Month
Every Month through the year 2021, we will feature a Caribbean scientist , engineer, ICT professional or STEM educator who through their contributions in their respective fields, have impacted the world as we know it today.
January 2021 – Professor Stephan Gift

In 1973, Professor Stephan Gift was the winner of an AMOCO scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at UWI. He graduated with First-Class Honours, and placed second in his class, overall. He was awarded a UWI postgraduate scholarship and completed his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering at age 24, the youngest PhD graduate in the Faculty’s history. Professor Gift later became Head of Research and Development at TSTT where he directed the development of advanced electronic systems and holds one international patent.
